I’ve been getting some great questions from members from the doll community about the preorder project, so I wanted to compile our answers in a list for people who are considering preordering.
What dolls are you measuring to make the arm?
We are measuring a Volks SD13 body, Volks SDGr body, a Fairyland Feeple girl body, and a Luts Delf Type II boy body. We feel like these dolls best represent the average SD body, and are, by our inquiries, some of the more popular body sizes. We are open to any suggestions of any other dolls that you think might aid in our measurements.
Where’s the photo of the actual 3D arm?
Our initial measurements were done with fabric tape, but since that is imprecise, we now have digital calipers that will measure up to a thousandth of a millimeter. I’ve delayed printing due to the fact that we’d like to re-measure our calculations before we print. This will cut down on the amount of prototypes that we’ll have to make, and since my team and I have easy access to a 3D printer, we’ll go through as many iterations as we can this weekend, and into the week if need be. My goal is to have a photo update of the 3D printed parts by next week.
What happens if you don’t reach your goal? Will I get my money back?
According to the casting company, we require minimum amount of four arms per casting sheet. So, at the minimum, we need four preorders to in order to do one run of casting. If four preorders are not achieved, all preorders will have their money refunded. The people who have ordered postcards will not receive a refund, as we currently have all the supplies to fulfill postcard orders.
What about shipping costs/insurance?
Shipping costs depend on where you live—we will be insuring all of the packages that are sent out, so that will be included in the shipping cost. If you do not desire insurance, please send me a personal note requesting me to leave off insurance. (Please note: if you request no insurance and the package is lost or damaged, we cannot be held responsible. We highly recommend insurance.)
What if I don’t like my arm when I receive it?
We want to make sure that you are totally satisfied with our crimsonSTEAM arms. If you receive your arm and you are dissatisfied with it in any way, you can send it back to us within 30 days of receiving it and we will refund you the full amount.
If you have any more questions regarding the crimsonSTEAM project, please message me via Indiegogo or on tumblr, and I’d be happy to post them up here.
